A few finds from yesterday. Its my 12 thimble, and this one is silver! The others are not from yesterday. The silver pin is sure tarnished, and the Indian is a little toasty. I found the lock on the surface! The brass ring has a little nub on the inside and is probably not a ring, I have found another like it long ago. 1891 IHP. The ore has calaverite running all through it but I will take it to someone who knows more to make sure, it might be pyrite. 1017171312_HDR-1.webpThis Colorado weather is amazing this fall!! I hope you get out and swing a little!1017171312a_HDR-1.webp1017171316_HDR-1.webp1016171502b-1.webp

Nice finds! [emoji2]

Looks like sylvanite in quartz to me. Ore is stained with coal dust. Some soap and water might make it look better.

I like the silver and the IHP. That lock is cool too nice finds!

Congrats on the silver thimble. I have not found one, so am quite envious of that one.

Best of luck to you sir!

Thanks for the posts, if l can't find silver coins l have to be happy with the silver relics. Silver coins this year= 0. Ecmjamsit I scrubbed the ore but it looks like it is stained from oxide from being out on the surface for 100+ years. I just took it out of my pickle pot and every side is sparking:) I think I see striations on platelets also. I am overexcited about this rock! I am sure it is a lot prettier in person.

Sweet finds you made, Congratulations!

I figure $50 to $75 on a popular internet auction site. Not a bad days haul.

Nice score on the silver thimble. Always nice to recover an Indian Head Cent. The eyeball brass lock is SWEET! Lovely relics and a cool rock too. Very nice day for you my friend.:headbang:

Thanks Ecmjamsit, lets hope it gets into a bidding war! Thanks Kurious, I am thankful for the time I get to spend outside. Lets hope for a warm fall. I live near a casino town and would rather gamble on what is in the dirt:) You really never know. Having a fire burn both towns down I am amazed at what you can find. Happy Hunting!

Congrats !!! Nice lock, IHP and your thimble, I've only found 3 silver thimbles up there in all these years ! your piece of ore looks like it might have both pyrite and some sylvanite in it I would have to see it , I love finding a good ore sample from the piles, one time we dug a bag of ore from a privy in Goldfield still in the canvas sack ! Have you heard the stories ?,,, In the old days the miners would put sacks of Highgraded ore in the bottom of the ore car then cover them up with waste rock and then dump it , then at night you could see lights on the dumps of the Ajax and the Portland where they were looking for the ore sacks :skullflag:8-)

Never found a silver thimble or a thimble for that matter. Congratulations on a great day you.

Thanks for the posts, I have not heard those stories Charlie, but I love hearing them! Those miners could have hid that high grade anywhere! Thanks for the post Truth! Metal detectors sure collect funny things!

Silver relics are way cooler than silver coins anyway, for the most part anyway. They're just more unique. That lock is awesome too. Grats on the sweet finds!

Thanks Divine, I agree. There is more personality in the relics. You kind of get a feel for what was going on at the time. There was a lot of train activity nearby, the lock may have been from that. Happy swinging:)

Congrats on the Silver Thimble, I'm still looking for my first.
Always fun to find IHP's and that one has a decent date.
Don't know much about rocks but I'm assuming that one has some gold in it??
