Silver Umax.. bottlecaps and junk :(. help?

I know on a Golden Sabre it gives a nice WARM tone on Silver. And cans has a different tone that with sizing stops you from digging most of them.
But you can do the detector dance and be miserable or learn the one you have and you will find more in the long run.

Your only going to find what that coil passes over. I dint care if it's a $300 machine or a $2000 machine. My buddy Buckle Boy uses a Silver U Max and finds as much if not more than my Cortes that set me back a WHOLE bunch more money. Keep learning that machine and you wont be sorry!! I certainly would NEVER get rid of a Tesoro to get an Ace 250 :BangHead: Best of luck and just keep learning that machine and it will reward you! Cheers, Shane

Maybe this might help you a little when trying to disk! :hello2:

the above diagram is from the Vaquero which is a bit different from the Silver. When using the disc on the VAC you don't lose much depth but you DO lose quite a bit of depth with the Silver....the more you DISC, the more depth you lose. If you do an air test and all things are equal (all the different metals you're testing are at the same depth like 1 or 2 inches) then you can turn your disc knob to see where it falls out. But, while you're doing the air test, your Silver may be able to pick up a target at 6" but when you turn the disc you won't be sure if 1. your disc knob DISC'D it out or 2. if it's too deep for your detector to pick up now that you've lost some depth by turning you disc knob too far to the right.

The Silver really shines when you don't use any disc or just disc out iron. Digging sucks so dig faster! Go to youtube and look up COIN POPPING. If the target is close to the top (1 or 2") your Garrett Propointer can pinpoint it and....it'll be close enough for your detector to determine what it is by turning your disc knob to the right. Unfortunately, you may also disc out something valuable! For me, I'm way too greedy...I DIG IT ALL.

I dig trash 90% of the time but I have found some really good stuff the other 10%. The Umax is a great detector but you have to play with the Disc knob when you get a signal. I set mine just above TAB and have found gold and silver as well as clad coins, copper, brass and lead. I have not had much luck in wet sand but the dry has produced some valuable finds. Hope this helps you with your decision. :icon_pirat:
