Bad weather this weekend prevented me from going out . . .
I got out for an hour and a half today to a street tear up near Detroit. This is the first time I have used the Silver. I was set to dig every signal. I set it to sensitivity 7 and disc slightly above iron. Almost immediately I got a smooth mellow signal. I kicked the dirt to the side and saw what appears to be an old homemade copper ring. It was only about 2 inches under the surface and there was no way I was going to miss that one.
I dug a few pieces of junk, scrap copper, and caps. Each of these items gave signals that to me were indistinguishable from the sound of good targets. My next good target was found at about 5 inches, it is an old lighter. I was pretty happy about that. The more I swung the coil, the more confident I got in this little machine. It is very silent, only giving sounds over targets. There was not alot of popping and crackling that I noticed. Basically, if you heard a sound, it was a target. I would say that this machine is extremely stable and cancels out iron very well.
I went on to find a wheat penny at 4 inches and a partial car emblem. Each of these items gave a good clear signal at about 4 inches. I dug no deep targets. I'm not sure if it's the machine or the location. I'll keep you posted about the depth capabilities of this thing.
On my first hunt I dug 15 pieces of junk to recover 4 good targets. Not too bad considering that I am just learning the machine and dug every signal. I was very impressed with my first outing. I was starting to experiment a little with all metal mode and switching from all metal to discrimination. It seems like this method has some promise of coaxing out deep targets - I'll have to experiment further. . .

Very Lightweight
Sounds are clear and mellow
Very Stable Running even at high sensitivity
Sweep speed worked out well for me
Updated Dislikes:
Pole starts to squeak as you swing the coil, had to be tightened 2x's.
Sometimes sounds are so mellow and short that you miss them.
This thing really shows the dirt!
At this point I miss having pinpoint, depth indicator, and VDI screen - but barely . . .
Later this week I'll be hitting an old park. Here are some pictures of todays finds. . .
