Hooked up with Ty this morning for a few hour's at the 1700's house right at sunrise.It was probably the slowest day here since we started detecting the place.Not a whole lot of anything until the end when Ty pulled two nice IH's from the same spot I pulled 4 from last month or so.Right after his last one I pulled this little Gold pin from underneath the bush against the fence.At first I thought it was plated until I got home and scraped the back side....solid through and through.Should clean up nice.....

Notice the scrape mark...

We started working our way back to the truck's at the front of the house and right where we have passed over time after time I got a decent 77-84 on the MXT,4 inche's down out pop's the copper disc,pulled it from the hole and dropped it into Ty's hand for the verdict.......NO DATE >:( .But it did have a stamp mark right in front of her nose with a perfect circle of "square dot's".....would this be considered a counterstamp or not? One of these day's I'll post a dated LC if it kill's me :(

Thank's for looking and Hope you all had a Great Day......

Great hunt, Joe!!!
That pin is AWSOME.
You always win in the Cool finds category!!!

I'd call it stamped. Nice one!

Most of the time I'd prefer a stamp over a readable date.

I'll call it countermarked ::)

I love that Coronet cent, Civilman! It could potentially be a countermark, but who knows? A bored feller back in the 1820s could have done it to the coin.

Keep on hunting with that coppa fever! :thumbsup:

Man you two guys knocked em dead that hunt!! That pin is sweet as well as the counterstamp?LC Will it clean up or is that the best condition it will get? Either way its a killer coin!!! HH Tom

What a great coin. Finding a large cent is is so exiting and to find one with a counterstamp is just that much better. It looks like it will clean up nice. Keep us posted would love to see that beauty after a light cleaning.
