GAGE COUNTY - EAST ROCK CREEK RELAY STATION ... was located on the OVERLAND STAGE TRAIL and was set up and owned by DAVID MCCANLES. He sold the station for a downpayment and three monthly installments. When the last payment was overdue he complained and was killed by WILD BILL HICKOK. On 25 july 1861 MCCANLES, JAMES WOOD and JAMES GORDON were all killed by HICKOK.
