SEQUOYAH COUNTY - BIG SALLISAW CREEK ... One afternoon, after Uncle James escaped (from the stockade at FORT CHAFFEE) for the third or fourth time; I sneaked off to where he was hiding out in a shallow cave near BIG SALLISAW CREEK. He said that the DALTON GANG had used the cave as a hideout. source PAGE 18, ALWAYS A WARRIOR BY CHARLES W. SASSER (1994)
WASHINGTON COUNTY - COPAN ... AL LAGAL, the grand-uncle of ROY LAGAL died in 1930. The family thought that he had buried money on his farm about 3 or 4 miles west of COPAN. He had been a miner in COLORADO and in CALIFORNIA. I often suspected the old well curbing but I don't intend to go back. source PAGE 46, JUNK HUNTING FOR A LIVING BY ROY LAGAL, THE TREASURE HUNTER'S YEARBOOK, 1971-1972 BY A.T. EVANS (1972)
