CHESTER COUNTY - MENDENHALL ... NORMAN JOHNSTON was part of a family burglary ring. When the heat came down he murdered four teen aged gang members to keep them from talking. JOHNSTON escaped from prison in HUNTINGDON and was captured 18 days later in his home county. JOHNSTON and his brothers stole hundreds of trucks, cars and much farm equipment in the 1970s. The brothers were named BRUCE and DAVID. All were sentenced to life in 1980. BRUCE JOHNSTON also killed his son's girlfriend and tried to kill his son.
