Skeleton Mountain Lost Treasure

Hi all. Has anyone ever found any information on the lost payroll that is supposed to be buried on Skeleton Mountain in Jackson County? I have never been able to pin point an exact time frame or a name of the two men who were involved. One article I found even went as far as to say that some one, again no name, had located the camp of the men who had buried the gold, but that persons name was left out as well. Thanks

The only thing remotely similar I can come up with is "skeleton rock" and according to marx and hult it is in Crook Co. and not Jackson. So, there always is the chance that this term could be somewhat ancient and was miner/era speak and was renamed in more modern times. Take Care and God Bless, horky74
