SKL Marked Ring - Equinox Two Day Hunt

I got a chance to hunt for two days straight which was really nice for a change. Yesterday I pulled 4 junk rings, coins, sun glasses etc . I did more of the same today. The beaches have been really messed up lately here in Florida with Seaweed the likes I have never seen in my 60 years living in Florida. The beaches are really sanded in and a rocky bottom is hard to find along the coast. Today I found a really nice heavy ring which looks and feels like gold. The only trouble is that it's marked SKL with no other markings. Can anyone tell me about SKL and is it just a costume wedding band or could it be gold? Thanks for looking. Happy hunting. Nice looking ring! Now dont take this as gospel, but from what I understand is that SKL breaks down to South Korea(SK) and the L being the Roman numeral for 50 signifying 50% or 12K gold.
I've seen a few other pieces being sold with this mark and description across a some resale sites.

It's hard to say but most sites are saying SKL is a makers mark. I see some that is real and some that is plated. The only way to really know is acid test it. You can get a set of 3 acid test bottles (10K, 14K and 18K) for like $10 on eBay but be careful not to get the acid on you if you go that route. A rare earth magnet helps. If it's attracted to the magnet it's not real. If it's not attracted it's a good sign but it doesn't mean it's real though. Any pawn shop or jewelry store would probably test it for you too. Nice find. You already have a scale so it is easy to do a metal density test (specific gravity test) to find out what K gold it is. You just need a scale, small cup, water, thread & a calculator. Here's a post from a UK forum that explains it: (deleted by mod for rule violation)

buy some 14k testing acid and rub the ring hard on fine sand paper or emory board to get thru any plating. place a drop of the acid on the spot you scratched ON THE RING. If it makes green foam its fake. wear gloves.. nitric acid will make your fingers dark orange.

it will not make green foam on 10k or above.
