Slave artifact. metal music box?

Metal detecting and found these items in a plantation next to a slave house. 4 feet deep in the ground, and i have no idea what it is. Music box? it seems mechanical, and has a lot of age to it. The land dates back to late 1700's.

That is the remains of an old rim lock off of a door.
