Snow is beginning to melt here in the great white north!🙂🇨🇦

Mornings are still a little frosty and ground is still too frozen for any metal detecting so I decided to head out and drive a few local scenic country roads.
Did not drive too far before noticing every time i would glance at the roadside there were literally Piles of empties in some places, so pulled over, grabbed a garbage bag from the trunk of my car, my trash claw and started walking..
After only about two miles i had filled the trunk of the car and was reusing bags i would come across along the roadside every now and then..

On a couple occasions i looked up to see passersby's giving a thumbs up or shouting a ''right on man" or ''Thank you!" A few locals even stopped to ask if i needed anything like a ride, any water or food and with a smile said thanks for what i was doing before heading on their way, one fellow even stopped and handed me some cash..!🙂

Realising that the road i was collecting empties on was probly not the only one with the unsightly distraction i spent the next few days walking an collecting from a couple of my favourite roads to simply just drive along.
Only had 3-5 hours of free time each trip out, but managed to cover/clear just under 15 miles before spending a day cleaning and sorting all the bugs out.

Bags in the left of totals pic contain beverages with varying percentages of Alcohol and bags on the right contain Water bottles and Soda cans..

Was all in all an enjoyable and rewarding way to get some exercise, take in some fresh spring air and admire the views while doing a little spring cleaning/clearing.
Cheers all!

Great job on the cleanup !

It's amazing how much garbage lazy slobs throw out of their car windows !
Whenever I hunt a private or public area I always try to leave it cleaner then when I got there.

big time thanks for your effort!

We see a lot of fast food cups and carry out sacks in our area. They toss em out the window without a care. Someone else can deal with it.😡

Great job! We should all try to leave our area better than we found it. I hope you get a tidy sum from recycling all that trash too.

Thank You Blewfur! I did alright after all was sorted out, cleaned and counted. I had just enough extra cash for the month to buy myself a new pair of hiking shoes and a can of bear spray for the harder to reach back country detecting locations.:icon_thumright::occasion14:
Happy trails!

I also went on another couple trips out after posting and was curious as of how many alcohol vs non-alcohol beverages there actually were..Turns out 83% of the containers had varying amounts of alcohol vs those that did not! Results were also slightly skewed by the empties from home, though they were on the soda and water bottle side.
Oh and also managed to get out to one of the said detecting locations.:icon_thumright:

Thank You russau! Yea that place is very scenic and is even more in person, just out of shot to the right on a small hill is a new large semi A frame style ranch house with some large windows facing the old homestead.
Hard not to slow down when driving past most times and could not help from crawling down a bank into the small meadow to take photo.
The ski hill in the background is Harper Mountain and photo was taken very near Paul/Pinantan Lake road, BC.

Yep that is correct! and that was @ 8 cents a container instead of 10 cents..
Being from the roadsides brings the return value down a bit even after blasting them clean with the garden hose, but
not all that bad for getting out to enjoy the early spring views and sunshine!

Michigan used to have a 10 cents per can return on them. I do not know if they still have them . I am guessing they do . For all your efforts you DESERVE IT THANK YOU !!!
