Changed gears today and got out of the city to an old (early 1800's) farm along the river. Fields are just now being plowed, so Pathfinder100 and I poked around the large side yard next to the farmhouse. Spent 3 hours trying to get a feel for the 'Nox 600 and was doing a lot of guessing. Not many good signals, but dug what repeated......

Very disappointed. I don't seem to do well on the very old properties.

Thanks for lookin' in and good luck to all........

Those lids are often used for caches here, Chizzy.

I woulnd't say thats all too bad, some pretty interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing

Maybe your expectations are set a little high! That's not a bad hunt for a homestead. One thing you might find though is going back to that same place on a different day may yield different results. Next time out may be better or worse. Think of it this way...you went looking for stuff, you found stuff, you're hunt was successful!

Very nice hunt. I’d take it.:hello:

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

I'd call that a good hunt...would like to see the ring up alittle closer...and a nice IH as well...curious as to what the brown do dads are...

Took me 2 years to find one intact. Now I have 15 of 'em. Oh, if only, one had a cache underneath.........!! Thanks Tuberdale.

unoeyejack and smallfoot, you are both spot on......I do expect a bit more from those older sites and should be happy with the keepers that did come my way. I plan on going over some of the same ground with the Compadre and/or Vaquero.

Yes rook3434, any day with a keeper is a good day.

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thanks Digger.....

Just finished cleaning that ring, Coinstar. It fell apart in my sonic cleaner, but lo and behold, it does say "sterling"!! Thanks....
The brown spot on the left is lead grapeshot and on the right, a lead sinker for fishing. As for the one above left......ya got me.

Sterling is a welcome sight...a sonic cleaner? I'll look that up...I'm learning all sorts of things from T Net...

Yep, sonic jewelry cleaner I purchased from a local goldsmith. She showed me the catalog options from her suppliers and ordered one for me. Made by Gemoro (for around $100), it's a 1 quart sonic cleaner. I fill it an inch or so over the base of the tray with water, add a bit of dawn dish detergent and then add just a splash of household ammonia. It has 4 preset timed cycles. Just set it to run and let it do it's thing. Most times one full cycle with be enough. That little ring was so encrusted, it took 5 full cycles.
