the cross upon the ring is a "orthodox" cross no doubt about it ------ I think from the language upon it ---it is Russian Orthodox ..if not then Greek Orthodox .

It says "Lord, save and protect me" in old Church Slavic language (Господи, спаси и сохрани мя / Gospodi, spasi i sohrani my)

russians use that church language the way Catholics used to use Latin...
