So I found what appears to be a dump site on the property I have been detecting. The site once had a House that was from the 1800's.

The Box does not have any marking to clue me on age but I did find Bottles near by at around couple feet.
Maybe someone have seen one just like it somewhere.

Here are some of the bottles. Ones a Corker and the other Screw Top

Oh since I'm already here. Maybe someone have seen this Aluminum Parrot somewhere? Found it on the same site but 30 feet away at around 5" deep. No marking but still has some faint color on it still.

I know these things are not super exciting finds but I have so much fun with it and I really would like to know.
And sorry for the Pictures posting sideways, took the pictures with my phone and not sure on how to correct that.
Thanks and Happy Digging!

I'm sorry, but those little eruptions all over your ring box tell me it's pot metal, not brass. Taking a guess l'd put it no older than the 1940s

Ah I see. After I did some light cleaning, It revealed a brass like look to it. I just assumed it was.
Thanks for replying Bruce R :)

The box is very pretty and often referred to as a jewelry casket. These often have a circa date of 1890-1900 or thereabouts. I agree that it's an alloy -- and it would have originally had a silk lining within.

What Metro Retro said - my grandma had one. - cottony padding, silk lining. But I love the parrot - does it have a hanger on the back? Anybody have info on that cutie?

I really like the parrot too. No hanger on the back, but there was bolt that went through right under where the feet are. It broke off in my attempt to remove the rusty thing.
