I found this in the same farm field my buddy found the kg2 the other day. Any ideas what it may have been part of? I have seen that somewhere? Problem is , I only have two brain cells and right now only one is working!!

It is the "shot measuring gate control" from a Shot Flask (for muzzleloader shotguns), from the 1700s into the 1800s. Pushing the thumbtab disc down closed the rear gate and opened the front gate, thereby allowing a "measured" amount of shot to be released from the flask. See the photos below.
