This is a small piece that I had found in the field where we have been looking for a rumored stagecoach stop....When I had first popped this out of the hole, I thought it was a gold zipper pull....The backside has a gold type plating to it....when I got it home and cleaned it, I saw that it was dated....it has a date of Nov. 27. 1863! I thought that was pretty cool! I have no idea what this come off of, but maybe someone on here will....I have it shown with a dime for scale....
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look....

I haven't a clue as to what it is but I'm sure that you are getting close to the stage stop.

Tiny dated pieces bring tiny tears of joy. Now, what is it?

Great find, buddy. With a specific day,it could be something off a mailed item like a seal. Will a magnet stick to it?

It looks like it was purposely cut or torn off of something.

Nice!

That 1863 piece might be a part of sugar tongs that hotels had with there name and dates one them. I had a couple once and no pictures left. If it is that they picked up sugar cubes and candy with them. Maybe someone can help with a picture. They were about 3 1/2 inches long and less than a 1/2 wide and very thin. They folded them in the middle to act like tongs. Just a guess and would be hard to tell with such a small piece. May be more pieces in that area were you found it.

It may be a lock cover.... The little flap that would slide over the hole of a pad lock.

It could be part of a watch fob or a clock key.

it could be anything but .... the decoration of flowers is very pretty.
greetings!

Since you are in Texas I checked that date for 1863 and found this info...perhaps something commemorating the battle?
