That is tiny! I hate when you get something small that goes through the holes in the scoop. It seems like you'll never find it. When I first started water detecting, I had what sounded like a big hit, I didnt even have a scoop, I was just dipping down and grabbing the sand or fanning it, with a mask on. I fanned and dug for a while, and couldnt find anything. I finally let it settle down after I pinpointed it for the 10th time, and looked with my facemask and pinpointed till I could see what it was. It was the wire that holds the tungsten filiment in an incandesant light bulb, about 1/2" long. I was blown away by how strong a PI detector was and how it would seem like I had a silver dollar when it was a minute piece of wire. Keep on detecting, you'll get some good gold!

This is the reason I don't use the PI today. However when things are slow I will waste minutes trying to recover an earring back like yours or even a stud hoping it's got a nice rock. Sometimes I am lucky and find one too. If I'd have gone on after it fell through the scoop the tenth time, I wouldn't have the rock studs at all.

Well I am not using a pi machine, maybe I need to move a bit faster ;D
