Hello Everyone,

I found this lead disc over the weekend in a farmers field. I have seen people post about lead seals before and I think that what it may be, but I'm not certain. There aren't any letters or designs that I can see. The "cuts" in it may be from the plow or something.

Here are a few pictures, the quarter is just for scale. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Happy Hunting,

Proberly a homemade weight - weigh & see if it aligns with anything.

Could be a game piece (like a poker or craps chip) melted or pounded down from scrap lead bullet. We find them here near military sites, sometimes cut in half as well.

A lead seal should have holes on the side where string/wire would go, from my experience anyway.

We find a lot of these over here to, not a lot can be said about them really, could be a form of weight? but without any markings it's hard to say for sure what they are.

It could be a ladies dress weight, to hold the hem of their dresses down? Just a guess

It weighs, 31.7 grams. When I switch my scale to grains, it's 489 grains (if my harbor freight scale is accurate, haha). I found a list of civil war era bullets' weights, and it comes close to some, but not exact. So, I'm still unsure what it is, but I do thinks it old. Thank you everyone for your information, it pointed me to look in different directions for this object.

it may be a cut out from a sheet of lead. lead was used for many things back in the day.
