Hello,
I thought I would take a moment to post some pictures of this year's dredging. It was the third season with our home made 3 inch. Last year we staked this claim and this was the first year working it. It took the better part of two and a half days to blaze a trail into the claim. We hauled in gear and set up camp. As it happened we were lucky enough to find a section of the stream where there was some decayed bedrock exposed that we had not previously seen when we staked the claim. That was good news as we could do some cherry picking and not have to move a ton of overburden the first year.
We had mined in the region before and each season we ran into a stubborn clay layer. Old timers in the region say it is volcanic in orgin. It tends to slow things to a grind and I am sure impacts our recovery. In all we were able to mine for 10 days. This was the first season we had the air system. It opened up several options we had not previously had.
The total gold take was down from previous claims and seasons but the gold we did find was larger and had more character than other finds. Plans are already being made for next season. It could be a long dark winter here as the sleet is hammering the window as I type.
