Howdy, I was just curious to know if a smaller disc would compromise some depth? I have a Whites 6000 Di pro sl and recently purchased a bullseye 5.3. When I got it from my dealer there was no manual no instructions just, the disk. So I'm a little curious to know something about it other than what I already know that it is for trashy areas. Thanks.

Rule of thumb used to be you could go about as deep as the coil is wide. Either EXcelerator has broken that barrier with their 5" coil or there is a P.T. Barnum effect and no one wants to be the first to admit to being suckered in buying one. Supposedly they'll go as deep as the conventional 8" coil.

Smaller coils certainly help you detect in trashy areas and you will get better seperation and more good signals so you'll hunt better than with a large coil. They're also handier in grown-up cellar holes and in brushy areas.
