Folks, apologies if I’m posting this in the wrong place, but I have a question maybe someone with experience can shed some light on. I’m planing to go snorkeling with my Equinox 800 (clear and calm Ocean water). If I have the volume cranked up will I be able to hear signals without headphones OR are waterproof headphones a MUST for any underwater work?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I know they have wired headphones but I don’t know if they are waterproof. I am sure by now someone make some. I would use headphones. I know with other metal detectors and waves knock your headphones loose you can’t hear

Yes headphones are a must.

You will need waterproof headphones if you put the screen under water. I recommend the LS-Pelso headphones.

Great, thanks for the info guys!

Ive never detected underwater and have no idea how sound traveled underwater.

Poorly is the answer to that question. I also think Tonys phones or the Patriots are both good phones for your purpose.

Tony Eisenhower makes a great set of underwater headphones.

I picked these up from eBay if you need this type of headphones. They are fairly loud and work great. Maybe stay on your head better than a full set of cans.

I've just got some Gray Ghost Amphibians for my Nox 600. Fully waterproof, extremely well made.

Gray ghost amphibians and tonys headphones, are, very good choices I have both and they are great nice and loud with clear sounds

I'm surprised they call them water proof when the charging port does not have any sort of protection to prevent corrosion.
