I decided to go with the Garrett ACE 350 after going to a local metal detecting shop and meeting the very enthusiastic and friendly owner Ron Shore. I asked a great deal of question to which he answered very professionally, then after seeing how excited i was he threw in a free book about called metal detector for beginners. He also told me about the Midwest Historical Research Society that he is in, they basically go on hunts together as well show their cool finds, I'm going definitely going to join after what i found today. This may not be that great compared to some of the things you guys find but to me this is amazing, I'll post pics up as soon as i can!
My First Backyard Find
2 Silver Quarters 1945 and 1941
4x Buffalo Coins 3 with no dates 1 dated 1936
1x US 5 Cent coin the date is 1822!! *has a small hole in it, i think someone might have tried to make this a necklace*
Today has been amazing! I can honestly say that I'M OFFICIALLY HOOKED!!! I have a question tho, I practically started MDing as soon as i assembled the MD. Should i mess around with the sensitivity or discrimination? Also sometimes i get a hit and i keep scanning back and forth to get a pinpoint but then its gone. whats the deal with that? I know i still have a long way to go, I'm still a noob

but if anyone can chime in that would be cool. I just figured maybe i need to calibrate the sensitivity and discrim, but i don't want to mess with anything yet until i properly know what I'm dealing with. Again this is a great site, I'm sure one day i'll be able to contribute to it like many of you have.
