The young girl is from Cricket Green School in Mitcham, about 15 miles from me. The school specialises in special needs pupils such as those with:

- Significant global learning difficulties
- Physical, social or emotional immaturity
- Physical disadvantage
- Poor social, interactive or personal skills
- Inappropriate behaviour associated with learning need
- Low self esteem
- Language and communication difficulties
- Identified autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD or other diagnosed conditions

Her name is Layla, she’s autistic, and she wears noise-cancelling ear defenders to help her manage anxiety created by sensory overload

Anyone else ignoring the warning signs or overstepping the white boundary lines would get short shrift from the Horse Guards and do so at their peril. Disrespectful tourists often get bitten, head-butted or kicked and the guards will show little restraint or sympathy if their horse attacks you.
