So we've heard recommendations for Metal Detector's. Try this Scenerio........

It's Friday, and your leaving work to start your 2 week vacation. You've made plans for a 2 week metal detecting excursion that is so remote , they have to fly you in by helicopter and drop you off, and then pick you up in 2 weeks. During the flight, a storage door opens on the outside of the copter, and swoosh, there goes your bag with your detector and pointer. No chance of recovering.

Before you land at your destination, you happen to see a metal detector store out in the middle of nowhere:hello2: and ask the pilot to land so you can purchase a new MD and pointer.

Question: If you only had $1000 to spend, what Metal detector and pointer will you buy. The place your going has everything, Gold, Silver, Coins, Relics etc.... Just 1 detector and 1 pointer. Don't need to say why.

Should have some fun with this....:occasion14:

Tesoro Vaquero.

Terry Soloman went with a Tesoro... who'd a guessed that?

That Metal Detector store way out in the middle of no where is gonna have a lot to say about what you buy....right?

I'm guessing there isn't much to dig at this spot if you can only access it by chopper. However, I'll play along.

Deteknix XPointer $90
Fisher F75 $950

I'd have to wheel and deal just a little to get the $40 discount, but I think I could pull it off with this store being so remote and whatnot.

Wow good question but I'd probably buy the At Pro and a garrot carrot! Cause I could sell it later and get my money back if I no longer wanted it after the hunt!

AT Gold=============$700
Tesoro Compadre=======$170
Garrett Pro Pointer======$120
Suitable shovel=========$10
That is what was in my bag that I lost so I replaced the same for $1K. Lucky I had some Mulah on the hip. The chopper Pilot best have good insurance.:laughing7:

Replace/Buy the equipment that you already know like the back of your hand.
You only have two weeks to get the goodies....no time to learn new equipment.

XR7 is correct... you can't just buy ANY machine, and learn it on the fly. I assume that we are going to hunt some really killer place, otherwise we would not have had to take a chopper to get there, so I want my best odds at scoring treasure, and we all know that is done with the machine that we each know best.

So, if the scenario was changed a little, say $500 and you just had to get a detector... this would probably help since a lot of folks on here use a detector that costs more than that.

I'll go ahead and give my answer for this scenario - Fisher F44 or Tesoro Vaquero.

and Terry's while I'm at it: Tesoro Vaquero.

Fisher F2 with 4" and 8" coils, 4" for sniping those cracks in the river rocks==$230
Tesoro Compadre======================================$170
Fisher F pinpointer======================================$60
Shovel, screwdriver, pry bar just in case=========================$40

If I lost my deus I think I'd jump after it

I would have to go for the Classic T2 $499, a Garrett Carot $128, a Lesche 28" Ground Shark Shovel $61, 5" coil $125, Fisher finds pouch $15, Lesche digging tool $42. & a pair of Detector Pro Gray Ghost Deep Woods Headphones $98, spend the last $32 on batteries and gloves.

What Loco said^^^^. I might have to try out the new Nokta Impact instead of the T2

F19 = $750
Garrett Carrot = $125
T-Handle Sampson = $65
Sennheiser HD429 = $60

I'm with Loco-Digger on this one. Great list!

I would get a Whites DFX which is what I have. That way I don't have to waste time learning a new detector.

Yeah it would be hard to beat the Garrett AT Pro and Propointer
