Yup, wont take long. Pretty much parroting you guys
Heat your iron up, put a small blob of solder on the tip and re-heat the posts till they flow~ that'll clean them up. On the one with the wire just use some needle nose and hold the wire while ya heat the post and the wire should come free. After that, as said, tin your new wires~ a little blob of solder on the iron applied to the wire, heat then touch the new solder to the wires and it'll flow onto the ends. Make a hook out of the ends of the new wires. Use needle nose to hold the hook to the end of the posts gently. Clean the tip of your solder iron on a damp rag or sponge, get another fresh blob of solder and touch it to the wire and the post till it flows... remove the iron as soon as it does flow *this will minimize the heat transfer to the plastics* and hold the wire still for a few seconds. You can blow on it if you like. Once it sets clean it with a damp rag *I'd use alcohol on it as this will remove the heat quickly and clean the flux from the terminal.* and to seal the posts a bit you can use some nail polish or a touch of rtv. Should be solid then.
Sucks what happened to the cord~ I'd probably take it apart and re-terminate it then re-seal it myself. But that may be a bit beyond ya so you can patch the area over with a good rtv- red would be best- and then tape the area. My thoughts.
