Thanks for sharing the pics.. are the buttons w/lion Finland /Finnish? Obviously a buried trench..w /unfortunate soldat..

These buttons and insignia are Finnish. I think that the lost soldier in pictures is Finnish soldier.

Yes Fin.
name Tauno Sauvola

Born in Helsinki in 1918
died in 1944

What a tragic scene.
May he rest in peace.

What do you do when you discover remains of soldiers?
I hope this poor boy's family can rebury him and find closure, altho surely his mama and papa are long gone by now. But perhaps siblings or cousins still remain.

Thank you for sharing these most amazing and touching finds, KORSU.
They are truly thought-provoking.

Korsu, that brave man died defending Finland and his poor relatives have mourned him for 70 years but never knew his fate. You deserve a medal for finding him.

Mene metsään
Mene vuorille
Mene kauas merelle
Anna yksinäisyyden hyväillä sinua
Kunnes ihosi on kyllin ohut
Niin ohut
Että sydämesi
Näkee sen läpi minut
Että minä se olin
Joka hyväilin,
Hyväilen sinua,
Mene, mene

A great find indeed. :coffee2:

Thank you for doing the right thing, Korsu. I come from a long history of warriors in my family and I appreciate your concern for fallen soldiers.
