I have a few buckles and would like to know how old they might be, what they were used for. I can do better photos if needed.
Thank you!
Thank you!
kuger: Thanks for the reply, I am learning a whole lot of terms I never heard of before! I googled "wreath to a tongue" and "wreath buckle" and saw the photos in images. I have the two larger buckles soaking in rust remover tonight, so once they are dried and hopefully cleanned I will post better photos of them!kuger said:HI,is a stamped brass ladies type wreath to a tongue and wreath buckle. There are a ton of variations of these, and yours appears to be another I cant say I have seen. They date from the mid 19th century
Same photo I posted on one of my other entry's! Thanks for clarifying I had no idea what they were called, but now I understand, the whole thing is the singletree and my finds were the buckles off of it. thanks again!mrs.oroblanco said:I really hate to be picky - but...................... THIS, is a singletree
I think you meant that they were hooks or hardware from a singletree.
Cool finds.
