Hello All,

I've been a little quiet on this forum as of late as my dog Joey got hit by a car and died earlier this week. We are having him cremated and then we are going to spread his ashes in our pond where he loved to catch frogs and feebly attempt to catch fish. He was a good boy and listened well he just must have chased some animal into the road. At any rate, whoever hit him didn't even stop, some good samaritan did and gave my wife the bad news. My wife is a wreck and I am not doing too good either. Anyone on here who owns a pet should go and play with him/her and give them a treat right now - you never know when it will be your last chance to do so.

As an owner of two dogs of my own, my prayers and sympathies are with you and yours

This is a tough time. My thoughts are with you and your family. Family pets are just that; part of the family. I have been there and I know how hard it is. We had to lay down my Great Dane (Rosie the Riveter) last year. It really took a toll on us. I loved her and she loved me, dearly.

Our pets are such a great part of our lives. I will say a special prayer tonight for your family.

Silver surfer,
I'm so sorry to hear that bad news. Try to hang in there. My dog, "Riley" and I are unseparable. He goes on silver hunting road trips with me everyday and I think he knows how to smell out the silver.
I'm 65 years old and this dog is my best buddy. I made a postr a while back with his picture. Check it out. My heart goes out to you and your wife.

Truly, very sorry.....

I know what you are going through. The same thing happened to my dog in 1988. He was a great dog, just like Joey. It seems like just yesterday that it happened. You will always think of him and he will always be with you. You will feel better with time.

sorry yo hear about your beloved dog.

This poem is called the Rainbow Bridge. I hope you find it soothing at this time.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry for your loss. VERY TOUGH to go through. I had a 12 year old Cocker Spaniel I lost that way after he learned how to get off his chain and ran back and forth to the nearby lake one time too many.

Very sorry for your loss. :(

Sorry for your loss. Here is my Mondee...she is like a 3rd child to us.
