Its no ridiculous amount of coins like I had recently, but this would be what I normally consider a really good day detecting for me. I found this on friday before sundays ridiculousness. I'm pleased with the tombac as they don't show up much in my area(my area settled in early 1800s). also the cool pin was my other favorite.
Thanks for checking it out!

These are gorgeous old relics. Congratulations!
Someday soon, i hope to learn the best practices for ID'ing cellar hole locations, as i have been unsuccessful thus far.
Posts like this definitely keep me trying though!

look for old census maps. Or look for old town records and compare them to maps. When out looking for them look for depressions in the ground rectangular shaped groves of trees, high flat spots where a home could have sat, rock piles and walls, old large trees, flowers and plants like lilies and lye lock bushes that are still growing where house used to be, apple trees, water sources, and so on. eventually you will find one.

Fantastic suspender buckle, that and the pin with the stone and fillagre would make my day

Great finds for sure! [emoji106]

Nice hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

I only ever dug two cellar holes .The first one was a large number of old bottles. It was the start of my getting into bottle digging. But not knowing any better quit when the digging got real hard because of roots from all the brush growing nearby . The second one was just a short hour or so dig .I found it while helping a landowner with some farm work .There where some good items on or near the surface and some glass scattered around the numerous groundhog holes .But I only had a hour of so before it was back to work. It was really overgrown with briars, vines and poison ivy .I always had the intention of doing some serious digging but the property was sold before I ever returned

is that a shotgun cassing
