I have spent the weekend detecting some farms with heavy Civil War activity, but that have been hit hard for the last few decades. I managed to find 1 bullet, a sword buckle retainer and what I believe to be a broken piece of the buckle plate itself. The other buckle is small and brass and if anyone could tell me what it was used for and how old it is I would appreciate it. and the other object appears to be lead with brass bands attached to it. Any idea what that is?

The mystery piece seems musical to me. Like the bands are different lengths in a consistent way. i imagine they were plucked by the holes in those big copper discs that came before records and before the round drum records. or something similar to that.

I have found similar mystery pieces, I'm guessing from a squeeze box? Nice finds, I'd keep hitting that field hard.

Just found these other day.

Harmonica reed, early 1900s buckle & the star prize a CW period Clasp (The hook bit of the buckle might be nearby)

Nice CW finds! :icon_thumright:

You are on a good spot. Work it you will find more. HH..

The small reeds are from an accordion or as someone said, a "squeeze box".
