Some clad and a question

Not much luck today in the Bay Area at a 1930s era house, but went to a big park for an hour before dark and hit some clad. A few times I got copper/silver signals only to dig and have the signal go away. This has never happened in NY. Anyone familiar with Bay Area/Calif. soil such that they could explain why this might happen?

Bergie, I've had some "ghost signals" on the Island here with know explanation, never figured it out, and couldn't reproduce it upon returning to the same area. ground minerals? bye the way how's the west cost treating you?
