Some cool finds

Hello all,

Hunted a yard for the first time in forever. Had to try and get out despite the ridiculous amount of water in the cane fields right now, so I hunted a yard. Thought it would be an older site but it ended up being 1900s. House long gone, just a mowed yard now. At any rate, I added another silver to the total with a 1939 Merc. Also dug a cool watch fob, prohibition era malt token, and a 1950s watch with the crystal intact. Gave all the finds to the property owner and it really made her day. The dime was her birth year and the pocket watch probably belonged to her grandfather and the wristwatch her father. Left with photos and a smile and one more silver in the totals.

Seeing how the other half lives, huh? Mercury dime? How did you recognize it? We have come to expect "o" mint mark seated coins and Spanish silver from you.

That was an exceptional gesture to give the homeowner the goodies. I'm certain that karma will pay you back... in Spanish and seated probably.

I respect anyone who gives all those finds back to the property owner. I would enjoy that hunt, that token is awesome, but to give family history back to those who appreciate it is a deed most often paid back to you in the future. Those finds from the early 1900's is as old as we get out here in the PNW....nice to see you pulling some goods!

It's a great change of pace for me. Been raining lots here, and the fields are a mud pit. I hope to get out again before the end of the year. Feels good to give finds to owners who are appreciative.

Agreed. Nice that it was a Louisiana-related fob (oil industry/drilling).
