While doing laundry I decided to just walk around the parking lot and see what I could find. There's a car wash across the parking lot from the mat. Spent about 15 minutes just looking in places I though things would be left or lost. The lot between the places slopes downward into a sort of bowl. If money isn't simply left on a machine or in a return...then if it fell...where would it go? Nearly every time I found something down-slope. A few were in cracks in the pavement. The nickel was left on top of the car wash terminal. Gotta check everywhere...where it's likely to be left or dropped...if dropped...then where might it go if not retrieved? Kinda like prospecting and panning for gold.
Odd thing though, I found a lot of coins in the corners...and I mean the very corner of the stalls next to the entrances. I supposed if something falls out of the vehicle from the cup holder or wherever...the high pressure blows the coins outward...because you do blast the nozzle in every direction when doing your car. I know a lot of things fall into the grates though, but...I didn't have anything to check in there. I might make a siphon that will fit through the grate holes...what doesn't end up in the corners has to be down there or stuck on the little ledge that the grate sits on. Theres just so much funk in those...kinda gross, but next time I might take a picking tool to see if anything might be there too....lol, gotta try everything.
Now, I can't imagine what I'd find sifting the vacuum debris...I know some people do this and find crazy stuff like money, rings and other jewelry. I'm not desperate, just curious...and hey...I already dig in dirt so...WHAT??
Of course a few things were found inside the mat...two quarters and a dime...all else around the car wash. I found the necklace in the clumps of grass clippings nestled against the curb on the side lot of the mat.
There's a bar affixed to the mat...so, one night I might just see how much surface finds are in the grass next to their parking space.
If you know how and where to look...you can find stuff.
