Some Kid Didn't Give a Damn About His Trumpet Playing Band

Some kid probably got an A$$ whupping when he told his parents he lost this trumpet mouthpiece. These things are heavy and not cheap. It's stamped as "Vincent Bach Corp, Model 7C". I found it in a middle-school yard today. It rang up like a quarter. Since it wasn't found on the playing field he probably lost it during marching practice. I think it's silver plated. I haven't seen one of these posted on T-Net yet.

I doubt if he got an a$$ whuppin' like he needs...he probably got "well we better go get you another one so you don't get in trouble". Parents don't teach kids lessons they need anymore.

I agree 100% on that!

Is a nice find though, I'd e-bay it...

Haha classic school find!

You could try the office at the middle school where you found it, there might be some sort of a reward or at the least a very grateful kid.

Ahh, the old 7C. Brings back a lot of memories. When I was in marching band, I had two trumpet mouthpieces. My first one was a 7C and my second one was a Jet-Tone. Boy, was that expensive. Had to buy it on my own.

Maybe you should consider contacting the band teacher and see if someone lost a mouthpiece. Most kids in the band are good students who make good grades or they aren't allowed to participate in band.

Interesting the way someone assumed it was a "he" that lost the mouthpiece and not a young girl. But then, visualizing a young girl getting a so called a$$ whippin' may not be as funny, is it?

I too remember the days of the Good Ol 7C. Neat find, someone was sad when he/she lost that.

Good find ;D

Re: Some Kid Didn't Give a Damn About His Trumpet Playing Band

Here's a picture of a couple of mouth pieces that I found a couple of years ago.  The Trumpet mouth piece, I can't make out the name above the word Trumpet, but the Tuba mouth piece was made by Conn.  Don't know how you could lose it and part of the neck at the same time and not know it.  Whatever, I thought that they were pretty unusual finds when they came up.

Keep lookin, maybe you'll find the rest of the instrument.

Neat find, I have found a bunch of those mouth pieces. I hunt a college that has band camps every
year and I don't even know how many of them I have found over the years. I should get mine
together and sell them.

I even tried to return some, but no one seemed interested in them. Oh Well!

Re: Some Kid Didn't Give a Damn About His Trumpet Playing Band

I used to play a trombone, all the mouthpieces I had were silver plated, they last longer and don't oxidize as fast as brass

Re: Some Kid Didn't Give a Damn About His Trumpet Playing Band

Since it was in the dirt about 6" deep there's a possibility that the mouthpiece has been in the ground since 1935. What I'll probably do is contact the Music Director and see if he could use it as a loaner for a current student who has lost their own and is waiting for a replacement.
