Some kind of rivet ?

Found this today at a 1900 farm house. Some sort of rivet I assume. Appears to have a design on one side. Anyone ?

That type of rivet was sometimes called a "brad".

Leather rivet, probably off of a horse saddle or other tack. I found a few, some have designs, such as stars. Probably 1800's. I have found some still inside old crumbling leather.
