I really like this piece, I just think its different and kinda cool. That said, I have always assumed it was some kind of scraper, and although "some kind of scraper" seems to be over half my collection, I was wondering what you all think.

now that's an odd one

Right???

Either a scraper or possibly an exhausted flake core? Cool find, for sure.

Maybe started as a unifacial knife and they just couldn't get those peaks to come down on that one side....cool artifact though!

Reminds me of an island I stayed at off the coast of Honduras :).

Well they did use them if secondary flaking is present on the edges. I have found them to they are stack reduction pieces. When flaking a tool or point there is a raised section that they will knock off not really sure when they remove it but some knappers should know if one sees this post. Sometimes they just throw them away but if they are big they will make a tool out of them. Yours is plenty big enough I have found some tiny ones.

Rock,

Are you talking about a spall?
