Metal Detecting
Just returned from another trip to my Adirondack Mountain property in upstate New York. Took along my metal detector when I climbed to the top this morning. Up behind the ledges (about 1000 feet up) I found buried under a ledge this Adlake Delaware and Hudson Railroad lock circa 1930s. What it was doing way up there is any ones guess? The old rail line does run down below the mountain however. Also found this Remington 12 gauge NITRO EXPRESS shotshell circa 1930s as well. 027.webp014.webp016.webp11216715_10200370948754482_3601955965959671312_n.webp

Maybe some bandits held up the train and stole a money box. They then rode their horses up into the mountains, and shot off the lock.
Or maybe I've watched too many old movies...lol
Cool find.

I had a similar idea but without the shooting bit.

Nice view, and I enjoy seeing old locks posted. If that is your property it surely is scenic and rugged.
