Today's hunt was in the grassy area between two fields that I've been hunting in. There was a large amount of fairly recent metal which leads me to believe it was a home garbage dump between 1940-1960, but fortunately there's a spot that yielded some older pieces more like what I've been finding in the fields.

The shield is the one I'm really looking for info on. It's definitely copper and has the stylized "M" on the front, but no other writing on either side. Has anyone seen one of these before and know what it's from or how old it might be?

The barber dime is 1905 and should look very nice once I get the tarnish off. The copper buckle was found very close to it, but a few inches deeper. I'm not familiar with the style though; how old would this be?

Finally, rounding out the hunt, is another lead musket ball and a copper hinge. All in all a great hunt, but I'm stumped on that copper shield though so any suggestions are welcome!

Wonderful shoe buckle.

I believe your shield is an antique (car) radiator badge.

Looks like you nailed it Back-of-the-boat! I googled around for radiator badge images and found this:

Still not 100% on the date, but from what I found you could order these with whatever letter you wanted and it's earlier than the 1940's. Very cool!
