This gem was posted on a local detecting Facebook page...

- I am the president of a nonprofit organization and have rights to several lots in Missouri. Would anyone be interested to buying tickets to metal detect there for a good cause? It’s all volunteer on historic property and the proceeds would benefit saving a historical home and tobacco barn from the 1800s...

..along with several drool-worthy photos. She apparently has access to numerous historical sites located in my county and two adjoining counties. I began a conversation with her to find out a good friend of mine is her father-in-law. I hope that leads to many future adventures!
She was able to identify this door knob backplate and tell me which house it was from!

I'd pay to go on a hunt for a good cause. Sounds like fun. Gary

That sounds pretty awesome

I would if I lived closer. Good luck.

a lot of historical spots hurting for money could do this
what would you pay to hit lets say a corner of Gettysburg for a day ?
some maybe up to $500

This is a wonderful example of detectorists and local historians working together to preserve history. I live a few hours away and am looking forward to the dig when it happens.

I plan on being very visible and very vocal and will have no qualms with escorting out any individual who fails to be good stewards of the land.
I don't mean YOU, MidMoTreasure. I think you know what I'm talkin about.
