Some Nice Digs: Wheats, Silvers, Cool TradeToken

[cambria09]

Hello All. Got out to my new favorite site after work, an 1880's home site.

Diggin' in the back yard was slow, lots of nails and bits of hardware etc. The owner showed up and told me the rear of the property was all orange grove back in the day so I moved to the front of the property and began diggin' some areas I had quickly covered on previous hunts...BAM!! I began to hear good signals.

Wheats, silvers, and old shot shells are always welcome finds but the trade token is "toooo-right"! It was worth $1.00 which was likely a great value back whenever (??), so the owner must have holed it for safe keeping on a nail or string. I have not been able to trace this token's origin or vintage yet...any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks for checking my post and may the finds be with you. HH.

BTW the shot shell is pre-1911

Nice old finds ! Congrats! You may want to check the orange grove area to see if a cache may be there.

Nice finds, is there a mint mark over the Monticello on the nickels reverse? Figured I'd ask in case you didn't know about War Nickels?

Thanks for the reply treblehunter. Yes "P" on the back and yes it is a war nick. I now have (3) of these welcome coins. HH C9
