Well today I headed home for the weekend and stopped at a few banks on the way. Three stops got me $100 in dimes and a box of nickels plus another $40. Overall I think I did quite well....
Nickels:
3 - 1943-P
2 - 1943-S
1 - 1945-S
1 - decent looking 1939
37 other pre-1960 nickels
2005-P Canadian Victory nickel (anyone know what the P stands for?)
Dimes:
1 - 1964-D
Tomorrow I'm heading out early and hopefully picking up at least another box of nickels and maybe another box of dimes.

Just an update to my original post...
I went out on Saturday as promised but I didn't come home with as much as I wanted.
Nickels ($40):
1 - 1939
7 other pre-1960 nickels
The nickels I got from one of my banks were all hand-rolled and I'd say about 90-95% of them were 1961/1962, which got me excited at first since early 1960's nickels have "the look" of pre-1960 nickels. But then when I looked at the dates I was disappointed. Oh well, its all part of the game!
Dimes ($100):
$100 = Skunk.
