Hit an old CW era site today trying for some seated. Only silver I found was this old pin from, I am assuming 1907. The other copper item is, well I have no idea. I think the tag is a RR tag? It would be a first for me. Only coin today was a fat IH. The date is not readable. I have posted my IH's so far this year. I gotta say that the EX II is excellent at IDing IH's and nickels..First IH photo is the good, the second is both the bad and ugly. Thanks for taking a gander, HH :D

Just did some checking. I think the UPJS means.....Union Pacific Joplin Shortline, two railroad goodies in one day? :o

I've beem doing some research on the copper item. Click on the link and scroll down to the 23rd Ohio Corp insignia. What do you think? http://howardlanham.tripod.com/linkgr3/link151.html

Your find is a baggage claim tag, issued by the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. It is a great find. It was probably issued sometime just before the turn of the twentieth century. If you look around the internet under "Railroadiana" you may find some comparables, although the information concerning baggage tags is a bit sparse.

It is probably worth more than all the Indian Head pennies together, even in excavated condition.

Nice find!

Yep, I agree. They are quite collectable, and usually bring a fairly good price on eBay.
Unless your like me... I can't sell anything that I've found... except for the clad. I save up
the clad and buy gold bullion.
