Hi yall, its been a while since I posted anything on here. Normally find common stuff that everyone else finds but today was a little different. Went to a community sale. And tried to scurry around as quick as possible. Came to one table and has my buddy was buying an old nice waltham watch I asked if he had any other watches and he said just one on his wrist. Never seen a stainless jager leCoultre but bought it with the original box. Its a lil scratched on the dial up by 3.

Then found a bag of watches for $1 each. They were mostly junk. But at the bottom was a zenith. Turns out has a 18k gold case. Any help on the serial number to date it would be a great help! I think 1918 but wanted another opinion. It is working.

Thank you all in advance!

an 18k zenith and a JLC, that's a great day

Awesome scores. 1918 seems fitting for the zenith. The JLC is the prize

The zenith only runs with the case open. Not sure why that is.

The balance wheel is making contact with the case when closed. Very common issue. The case is slightly tweaked

Try cleaning the crud out of the hinge and rim of the case and cover. This may be enough to stop the flex when closed

Awesome scores BK! The Jager LeCoultre is worth a very pretty penny and the Zenith is as well if cleaned and restored. The JLC will likely fetch $800+ but probably no less than $600. The Zenith if cleaned, restored and in great running condition may fetch more than the JLC, especially if the manufacturing date is confirmed.

Ill give you 800 based on the pictures alone. I was thinking the day date HPG of this vintage is more in the 2 to 3K range

Now that's a score. Good job BK.

Some old Watches. Most understated subject line ever. Unbelievable! You guys are just killing it on watches these days. A freaking JLC with box and papers and an 18kt gold Zenith!!!

Haha. I didnt know about the zenith. I found out later it was gold. Half a day after i bought it. The jlc was a surprise seeing I bought a baume & mercer for a $1 at the same stop for a $1. But it was fake. Very rarely do I buy things the owner is wearing. This one was a surprise! The owner had 3 junk seiko ones. (90s quartz, batteries never removed) I wasn’t expecting this one!

Have to ask, quote “ do you have any watches you dont wear anymore?” Not old watches ,, then they think like antique. But just any watches. Have one on and point to it when you ask. Seems to work well, have seen some crazy expensive rolex, tag huer and a solid18k the guy wanted $7,000 for! Thats my best tip.

These are from that question: this last 4 months
(That i kept)

Haha. Sorry! Trying to get that done before I left for the day.

I sure like the Zenith, congratulations! :occasion14:

Well we got the zenith running. Keeps good time. Cant seen to find one similar in a 18k gold case. Looking for a new band as the original has some blood stains. Haha ewww

That's where my ultrasonic cleaner would come in handy. I'm gonna start asking for watches everytime from now on.

edit- Nevermind I just blew up the photo and saw that it is a cloth band, looked metallic duh. Have you ever used Oxiclean for stuff like that? It works. The original powder formula is best. I've used it on old dingy embroidered linens and such, worked wonders.
