Good news, the doll is not 'just' a doll. It is an antique German hand-painted glazed porcelain 'half-doll,' with the mold number of 17040. The era is Victorian to Edwardian. If it were in unbroken condition, it would be worth $$$. Here is a website with general info about half dolls:
