Some silver some CW bullets and some relics, and a few "I don't knows"
Finally have a decent showing of finds to post on, from several different hunts. The Civil War relics/bullets are from two sites closely related, found a few pieces each hunt. Included are some decent general service buttons for this area, they're usually in even worse condition. Also the two ends of a broken spur (didn't know that's what they were until I saw someone else post about finding one). Unfortunately I didn't find the other piece...grr. The 2nd thru 4th picture are finds from a couple of house/yard hunts, one a tear down. The red goose token was a cool find but what in the dickens is the brass thingy?! Looks like a miniature brass candle stick but I'm undecided as of yet. Anyone ever seen one of those? The silver thimble is an old piece and was inscribed around the outside base at one time but that is worn off. Can see a couple of letters here and there, enough to think that it was made in Mexico and had a personal inscription as well. The toy car came from that same site. The little bullet case looking thing in the 4th picture is actually a tiny lipstick with the word Tangee. In the 5th picture are a couple of melted bullets (1 three ring probably 58 cal, the other a 44) which are the first I've ever found. Also in that picture is a VERY heavily chewed three ringer. In the top of the 6th picture are three more whatchamacallits, one I think is a finial of some kind, the ornate piece on the right is probably a more modern furniture pull. On the top left, that piece is heavy old brass. The hole goes all the way through. Not sure what it could be. May be newer than Civil War but condition looks much like other CW brass pieces I've found here. In the 7th picture, on the bottom is a shot 36 cal. St. Louis Arsenal pistol bullet...a very cool find I think. And does anyone know what the two button-like things are on the right side? Are those from the sides of a Kepi? There's no markings on them that I can see but I'm almost certain they are CW uniform related.
