There is no hole at the other end, it is solid. No, I haven't tried to make music with it, but I guess I should give it a try :D. My initial impression was the counterweight idea, and it's still my best guess. I don't know if there would have been a pin through the hole or not. My other idea was a fishing lure since the end away from the hole sort of resembles a fish head, but I don't know where the hook or line would attach. ??? ??? ???

Can't figger the lead item out. Hand made apparently and hard to find a match. Just found out my supposed muzzel loader part is really a tent line adjuster. Thanks Michelle!

txkikrgirl, those are wheel weights used to balance tires from a tire shop. I use to collect them to melt and make cast bullets. :D Monty

Dont give up on us ....and you could be right...maybe we wont know for sure but usually when something was made from lead during the cw it did have a purpose "ususally"...either to replace a broken or lost button or scabbard tip or game piece etc..etc...! Is this a carving on the side (middle pic) NY?

No, it's not a carving. It appears to be some scarring from the tool that was used to swage or crimp the piece together.

Looks like the lead weight used to hold decoy ducks inplace on the water. Were you around a lake or pond that maybe someone dropped it carrying decoys out.

That's a really good idea Robbie. You might just have a winner there.
