005.webp006.webp003.webp Posted this under My Best Finds earlier today along with some other of my yard finds so thought I would try here. Found this penny sized hollow ball shaped object in my yard along with a lot of other things from the distant past. It has an opening through the top that may be for threading onto clothing? My best guess is some type of button or similar attachment? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If it helps at all I am in New Jersey about 20 miles from Philadelphia.

I found the same type of thing awhile back. At first I thought it may be a bell or something but your right with a type of button I think. Here is a link to the thread if you want to take a look. It was found at a old property.

Thanks for the educated guess. Is my first time hearing of this type of button. Hopefully will get some more info.

Couldn't get much info when mine was posted. Hopefully you'll get a good Id. [emoji2]

They both look very much the same KIDDO1979. I too thought it was a bell of some sort when I first found it. However I am now still thinking it may be otherwise? Thanks for the response.

Looks like a ball button or possibly even a military zouave button.

That type of hole/shank is 20th C, this is not an 19th C Ball/Globe type button.

th.webp Thanks to AARC and everyone for your input. As seen on Ancientpoint.com
looks like it is probably an Antique Brass Metal Round Ball Dome Button (pre-1930) made by the Waterbury company. I am considering this case closed. Thanks to all again.
