I went to scout out a hayfield this morning that I thought might have been a picket post but no such luck. Hunted it for about 2 hrs and found nothing but trash. Moved to a nearby old foundation that I have hunted before and the grass was real high but I still managed a few keepers.
First find was a 1941 Wheat cent that had been shot with a 22. We used to do that when we were young...... Stick a penny in the top of a fence post and shoot at it. I found a nice stirrup, a flat button, old pocket knife and a few other odds and ends.

When I got home I got "Miss Sally" out and stretch her legs. It was a nice end to a good day. Hope everyone had the same

the shot penny reminded me...my huntin buddy had never broke into the 1800s with a coin find.He was whinning about it on the way to and old fireplace we spotted deep in the woods...then it happened...an indian head cent 1880 something blasted with a 22....lol.he says it doesnt count...I say its even better when shot.. nice stang too !!
