I got back to a site I got the okay for last fall. It was a really nice day to get out, work was busy this week time to unwind. This item I have no idea on, the village was a logging town back in the 1870s, this item looks like slag but it is formed for what reason I am not sure of, any ways it was laying on top of the ground, it is not metallic, the coin was a welcome find. Congrats on the Seated Dime.
I can't help with the unknown item.

Any day out hunting that turns up a seated coin is always a very good day! Congrats.
