I just a moment ago used one just like that to see if my banana bread was done.
oh, wait, what size is this one? Some close ups would be of help (at least to my old eyes)
And notes on any markings.
Having been a dealer of them, I'm familiar with the prices of high-quality and low-quality Reproductions of civil war swords. Also, being a longtime Lord Of The Rings fan, I paid attention when imitations of the swords used in the LOTR movies began to be advertised. Prices ranged from $75 for the Pakistan and East European imitations, to $300 for top-quality American or Western Europe imitations. Keep in mind, those swords had "ornate" (decorated, engraved) blades as well as guards & hilts. Your sword's guard is ornate, but the blade is very plain and simplistic. Definitely an el-cheapo Pakistan repro -- which I would have guessed even if it wasn't marked Pakistan. Based on my personal experience in researching prices of such Reproduction swords, I would estimate the value of yours at $75, due to the ornate guard, but very cheap simple straight-piece-of-ordinary-steel blade.
For comparison, here is a top-quality copy of a Lord Of The Rings movie sword, Anduril. It has a 40-inch double-tempered STAINLESS-STEEL blade, which is triple-beveled, and is engraved with Runic lettering, along with an ornate guard and genuine-leather stitched hilt. It is priced at $269.99. Plain-steel non-engraved Pakistani copies of it are priced at about $100. Anduril Sword Sword of Aragorn Lord of The Rings LOTR Weta United Cutlery UC1380 | eBay
